Today I'm going to show you a bit and talk even less about a photographer's work, an artist that I consider extremely good at what he does. His pictures are, I think, more about hiding than showing; our mind completes what looks blurry at first, or full of shadows, until the limits of our imagination vanish completely.
Enaugh said, I hope you enjoy them.

Hoy les voy a mostrar un poco y a hablar, un poco menos, sobre el trabajo de un fotógrafo, un artista que considero extremadamente bueno en lo que hace. Sus imágenes, creo, tratan más de esconder que de enseñar; nuestra mente completa lo que, en un principio, puede parecer borroso o lleno de sombras, hasta que los límites de nuestra imaginación se desvanecen por completo.

Well, actually, it is not, because i'm back home to The Canary Islands, and so I'm wearing shorts, not coats.
It's still Christmas, even if it's 20 degrees, so I hope you spend these special days with your family and friends, eating like crazy, drinking some wine, kissing under the mistletoe and resting!
Bueno, la verdad es que no, porque estoy de vuelta en casa, en las Islas Canarias, así que llevo shorts, no abrigos. Pero sigue siendo Navidad, aunque haga 20 grados, así que espero que pasen estos días especiales con su familia y amigos, comiendo como locos, bebiendo algo de vino, besándose bajo el muérdago y descansando :)

Beginners

Christmas is getting closer and closer, and so is the New Year... 2012, wow, that's scary... not because of some prophecy, but because it is new, even if it is a couple of thousands years old. We have to make all these resolutions again...
Las Navidades están cada vez más cerca, igual que el Nuevo Año...2012, guau, da miedo... no por cierta profecía, sino porque es nuevo, aunque tenga un par de miles de años. Tenemos que escribir los propósitos otra vez...

We'll be new, just as the year, we are suppossed to start over, we'll be beginners once again.
Vamos a ser nuevos, como cada año, se supone que tenemos que volver a empezar, seremos principiantes una vez más.

And the thing is, even though we might be quite excited about our resolutions, most of the times, deep inside, we know the following year we'll be writing the same ones, waiting some day our future ourselves might actually achieve those goals; this makes me wonder if going to be beginners during our entire lives.
Y la cosa es que, aunque podemos estar bastante entusiasmados con nuestros propósitos, la mayoría de las veces, en el fondo sabemos que al año siguiente vamos a escribir los mismos, esperando que algún día los futuros nosotros lleguen a cumplir esos objetivos; esto hace que me pregunte si vamos a ser principiantes toda la vida.

Well, my answer is YES, always. This is not something to be sad about; it means we always have everything to learn, it means we cannot ever get to know ourselves, because we're changing every minute; it also means we need to stick to what remains for our short eternity (that is 80 years, avarage), and understand that the only things that remain are people (always taking into account people are not things).

Fall into fall

First official day of Fall. For me, at least.
Nice afternoon full of blankets, movies, Ben&Jerrys chocolate ice-cream and now music and my beloved Patri's tumblr...
And let's not forget about my new cat, did I tell you about him? It's all I can talk about now, he's like the baby king of the house. More news is I'm living with new roommates, and also I spent a month in Paris this summer, which means plenty of new people and new plans for this year. Oh! and I even changed my career... looks like i have a whole new life, and I'm enjoying it so much :)
Aunt Bettie is going to take a lot of pictures of Cat Francesco soon, I'm sure, and then I'll show you how lovely he is.

Summer Girl

Whenever I open my closet, the idea I have in my mind (that never comes true) is Serena Van der Woodsen, at least most of the times. But, of course, my hair doesn't behave and my clothes aren't Chanel, however, I'm usually satisfied with the result.
Summer is different... it's the season in which my beach and surfer side blossoms, it's the time to change the perfect wavy haired blonde girl from GG for the blonde girl with the hair full of salt from 90210.
La mayoría de las veces, el ideal que tengo en la cabeza cuando abro el armario (que nunca se cumple, claro) es Serena Van der Woodsen. Ni el pelo se amolda, ni la ropa es de Chanel, pero suelo salir satisfecha de casa.

Pero el verano es distinto... es la estación que saca mi lado más playero, surfero... podría decirse. Es el momento de cambiar en mi cabeza a la rubia de ondas perfectas de GG por la rubia de pelo ensalitrado de 9021.

I have always loved road-trips, both in movies and real life. I can't drive yet, since I don't have enough money to get my driving permit... but I will, soon.. i hope so! In the meantime, I kind of like being the one who keeps the driver awake/ Siempre me han encantado los viajes en coche, tanto en las películas como en la vida real. Todavía no sé conducir, no tengo suficiente dinero para sacarme el carnet... pero lo voy a hacer, pronto... espero! Mientras tanto, me gusta bastante ser la que mantiene despierto al conductor.

Everything is full of colors this season, actually, I am wearing fuchsia today... and i really need a break. Es una de mis actrices favoritas, creo que porque tiene un encanto de los años 40 y esa belleza rara pero impresionante. Bueno, ¡está de vuelta! I really don't like the way she looks in the "official" pictures for Bvlgari, but I didn't like Juliane Moore either, so I guess it's the photoshop messing around. Some people don't really enjoy facing difficulties. A pretty lady said once: "we are hidding like happy elephants" That made me think... hiding is not so bad if we're happy with it, right?. Of course, that situation is only possible if we're elephants, and so we should all either transform or face our problems. / Algunas personas digamos que no disfrutamos de enfrentarnos con las dificultades. Una mujer bonita dijo una vez: "Nos escondemos como elefantes felices". Eso me hizo pensar... esconderse no es tan malo si somos felices, no?. Claro, que esa situación sólo es posible en el caso de que fuésemos elefantes, por lo que, o nos transformamos, o nos enfrentamos a nuestros problemas.

I wonder... which are the clues that make me feel fall is here...? / Me pregunto... ¿Cuáles son las pistas que me hacen sentir el otoño?

1st: I am sick at home (again!)
so, I went to spend two days in a friend's, whose parents take care of me as they were my own :) But now I'm home again, and I have is my roommates to feel good and my lovely friend to visit me. Delicious chocolate talk. /1ª: estoy enferma (de nuevo) Así que fui a pasar un par de días a la casa de una amiga, y sus padres me cuidan como si fueran los míos :) Pero ahora estoy de vuelta en casa, y tengo a mis compañeros de piso para sentirme bien y a mi querida amiga para visitarme. Deliciosa charla con chocolate.

2nd: We're preparing Thanksgiving
International thenksgiving (as you may already know, I'm in Madrid, living with two american guys and a girl from Andalucía. Plus, two of our guests are French, so I guess it'll be fun) Tomorrow's the day and just now my rommate Evan came into the kitchen with the Turkey... what's its name...? Turkey Anson (We miss you!) Waoh, you should see it, it's huge! and we've got pumpkin too. God, we're going to start cooking right now! This is so exiting! My first Thanksgiving dinner!!! /2ª: estamos preparando acción de gracias. Un acción de gracias internacional (como ya sabrán, estoy en Madrid, viviendo con dos chicos americanos y una chica de Andalucía. Además, dos de nuestros invitados son franceses, así que supongo que va a ser entretenido) Mañana es el día, y mi compañero Evan acaba de entrar en la cocina con el pavo... ¿cómo se llama...? I don't know about you, but i am so tired of these pictures and editorials in which models and celebrities look so bored... serious faces with no life or movement. I am so glad everytime I find a picture in which these amazing beauties stop trying making their best sculpture-like looks and just have some fun...
/ No sé ustedes, pero yo estoy cansada de esas fotos y esos editoriales donde las modelos y las famosas tienen pinta de estar aburridísimas... caras serias sin vida ni movimiento. That is what I felt in those short ten minutes the show lasted, which fascinated me. Light materials seemed to be flying, while brushing the models' ankles; sunglasses evoked a fairy atmosphere, strange in our world;

Esto es lo que sentí en esos escasos 10 minutos que duró el desfile, y que me fascinaron. Las telas vaporosas que parecían volar, agitar sus alas, entre los tobillos de las modelos; las gafas evocaban un aire feérico, extraño al mundo;

Watercolors dyed in the fabrics, painting animals that seemed to be seen behind sea-colored crystals: green, light blue, white, beige ... but also fuchsia and deep blue were present. One of my favorite details was the use of leave forms, placed as flakes, in skirts as well as in t-shirts.

Las modelos me sorprendieron por su altura y su evidente belleza, tanto las más jóvenes como las que, no tan jóvenes, recibieron el aplauso del público en cada salida. Last Wednesday, I listened to more than 20 Beatles' songs played in the park by a street musician. Yesterday, I saw a Squirrel for the first time since I was six. Tonight, I'll go to see a comedy show. On Monday morning, I'll start College (I'm quite excited!!) On Monday afternoon, I'll go to Cibeles (Duyos' runway! How wonderful is that??!) / El miércoles pasado, escuché más de 20 canciones de los Beatles tocadas en el parque por un músico callejero. Ayer, vi una ardilla por primera vez desde que tenía seis años. Esta noche, voy a ir a ver un espectáculo cómico. El lunes a la mañana, voy a empezar la universidad (Estoy bastante emocionada!!). El lunes a la tarde, voy a ir a Cibeles (Al desfile de Duyos! ¿no es increíble?!)

Madrid, my new city, is able to give me all that, and asks for me nothing but enjoy it.

But the last thing I told you about, the runway a friend and I will attend to is all thanks to Mónica, from Miss at la playa, who gave away 12 passes to the fashion show. I couldn't thank her enaugh, really! Her blog is, no doubt, one of the best I've ever visited, because it's not just another fashion blog; of course, you will be able to see street-style, our favorite it-girls looks, interesting interviews... but you can also enjoy her amazing photography, some "do it yourself" guides, check some films you should totally see or great opinions about any fashion issue. So, if you are not a total fan yet, what are you waiting for?

/ Madrid, mi nueva ciudad, puede darme todo esto, y lo único que me pide a cambio es que lo disfrute.

Pero lo último que les dije, la pasarela a la que voy a asistir con una amiga, es gracias a Mónica, de Miss at la Playa, que regaló 12 entradas para este evento. ¡No podría estar más agradecida! Writing in the plane/ Escribiendo en el avión

I'm on my way, my way towards my new life. I overfly the sea, above those clouds that lead their shadows on the crystalline surface, shadows I confuse with huge fish that join the wind, and swim to the rhythm of the breeze.

And I know I'm gonna miss it so much... It's funny how senses are able to disturb the state of soul: perfumes in the morning, the taste of salt water on my lips, the sound of evening laughs and finally the touch of the sheets at night; everything unites and forms the memory of a life, so recent and so past, that overwhelms me and produces a continuous nostalgic feeling. Only a few minutes ago my daily life changed. Only an hour ago I understood my friends won't be always there, and that knowing breaks my heart. Past was never so recent.

/Ya estoy en camino, en camino hacia mi nueva vida. Sobrevuelo el mar, por encima de esas nubes que dejan su sombra plasmada en la superficie cristalina, sombras que se confunden con peces gigantes que nadan con el rumbo del viento, al ritmo de la brisa.

Y sé que voy a extrañar tanto... es curioso lo que los sentidos pueden perturbar el estado del alma: los aromas de la mañana, el sabor del agua salada en los labios, los sonidos de las risas vespertinas, y el tacto de las sábanas nocturnas; todo se une para formar el recuerdo de una vida tan reciente y tan pasada que me abruma y me produce una sensación de continua nostalgia. Hace sólo unos minutos que la vida diaria ha cambiado. Hace sólo una hora que comprendí que mis amigos no van a estar siempre, y eso me desgarra por dentro. Nunca el pasado fue tan reciente.

However, when I think of everything that's waiting for me... that uncertainty makes my chest a sea that overflows because of happiness and pure expectation. There isn't "I hope"s in my thoughts, because these are so little concrete that, this abstract art that means the birth of an idea, may become anything but something real. And reality is beautiful anyway, art anyway.

I ask myself: Are they waiting for me as much as I wait for them? All those people who are going to become pillars of my future, all those experiences that will fill me, or empty me, or just make me burst into tears, or cry of happiness; are they as eager as I am to finally meet each other? It doesn't really matter, I know that future will be present at all times, little by little, building itself the way La Sagrada Familia does, brick by brick, detail by detail, with the effort of hundreds until it reaches the sky. A holly building for me, impressive for those who sneak a look at it, overwhelming for those who really observe it. That's the way I want to be, that's how I want my life to be, and that's why I know I will be extremely happy.

Y, sin embargo, cuando pienso en todo lo que me espera... esa incertidumbre provoca que mi pecho desborde en un mar de alegría y pura expectación. No existe un “ojalá” en mis pensamientos, porque tan poco concretos son, que ese arte abstracto que es el nacimiento de una idea, puede convertirse en cualquier cosa menos en realidad. Y la realidad es igualmente hermosa, igualmente arte.

Me pregunto, ¿estarán esperando tanto como yo los espero a ellos? Todas esas personas que se van a convertir en pilares de mi futuro, todas esas experiencias que me van a llenar, o vaciar, o hacerme romper en llanto, o derramar lágrimas de alegría, ¿estarán tan ansiosas como yo de por fin encontrarnos? Poco importa eso, sé que ese futuro se hará presente en todo momento, poco a poco, construyéndose como la Sagrada Familia, ladrillo a ladrillo, detalle a detalle, con esfuerzo de cientos hasta llegar al cielo. Un edificio sagrado para mí, imponente para todo el que lo mira de reojo, sobrecogedor para aquél que lo observa detenidamente. Así es como quiero ser, así es como quiero que sea mi vida. Y por eso sé que voy a ser tremendamente feliz.

Back form Bs As...

To say "hola" again!

I felt so many different and deep things when I was there... Thank you all, those people I could and couldn't see, for giving me the strength I needed to start my new life, only one month from here.

Well, yesterday a friend told me to take a look at the American Vintage web site. There was some time (mabe a whole year!) since the last time I gave it a look, and "great" doesn't seem enough for it. I mean, I compare it to Zara's website, and it's way better (though now, this one is also improving); it's more simple, but extremely nice, cute and you want to keep on looking and reading everything it's said on it (music from the web helps!) It reminds me of "dace", right?

Anyway, here you can see some lovely photos I took from there:

/ De vuelta de Buenos Aires... ¡para decir hola de nuevo! Sentí tantas cosas diferentes y profundas cuando estuve ahí... gracias a todos, aquellas personas que pude ver y aquellas a las que no, por darme la fuerza que necesitaba para empezar mi nueva vida, que sólo está a un mes de distancia.

Bueno, ayer una amiga me dijo que echase un vistazo a la web de American Vintage. Hacía un tiempo (¡puede que un año entero!) desde la última vez que había entrado, e "increíble" no me parece suficiente definición. A ver, si la comparamos con la página de Zara, es muchísimo mejor (aunque ahora, ésta también está mejorando); es más simple, pero realmente bonita, y monísima, y una quiere seguir mirando y leyendo todo lo que dice (la música de la web ayuda!) Me recuerda a "dace", no?

Last days before going to Ibiza: I'm so exited, I can barely believe it!!

So, we're enjoying our last afternoons and nights... Some dinner, wine, deep and not deep at all talk, and Audrey films.

/ Últimos días antes de ir a Ibiza: tengo tnatas ganas, que apenas puedo creérmelo!! Estamos disfrutando nuestras últimas tardes y noches... algo de cena, vino, charlas profundas, otras para nada profundas, y películas de Audrey.

And, my hated and beloved last days of shopping summer clothes before Sales. Why beloved? because I do enjoy shopping, and seeing clothes, and trying them... why hated? because I know few weeks from now it will be much cheaper. I would like to get a light white dress, some shorts, a new handbag and some sandals. I guess I only have to start looking for it.

/ Y mis adorados y odiados últimos días de compras antes de las rebajas. ¿Por qué adorados? porque me encanta ir de compras, ver la ropa y probármela.... ¿por qué odiados? porque sé que dentro de unas pocas semanas va a estar mucho más barato. Me gustaría conseguir un vestido ligerito y blanco, unos pantalones cortos, un bolso nuevo y unas sandalias. Supongo que es cuestión de ir a buscarlos.

What a night the St. John's

It was.... really surrealistic. Well, I guess that's the way it should be: magic. I laughed sheltered by the sound of waves and people chatting and singing, I was mesmerized by the fire and its strange sparks, and danced to the rhythm of drums wearing a long skirt, which brushed my legs over and over, and the dark sand hit by my feet.

It was everything I could ask for a night.

Menuda noche la de San Juan.

fue... muy surrealista. pero bueno, supongo que es lo que debía ser: mágica. Reí cobijada por el ruido de las olas y de la gente charlando y cantando, me hipnoticé con el fuego y sus caprichosas chispas, y bailé a ritmos de tambores con una falda larga y ligera rozando mis piernas, y arena oscura chocando contra mis pies.

Y fue todo lo que le pude pedir a la noche.

On the Road again...

just can't wait get on the road again...

I can't believe it! I've just heard it and I'm so exited! Next year we're going to be able to see "On the Road" movie, which is based on Jack Kerouac's 1957 novel, one of my favorites ever! And... guess who's going to play Camille? / ¡No puedo creerlo! Me acabo de enterar, y estoy muy emocionada! El año que viene vamos a poder ver en los cines "On the Road", una película basada en la novela que Jack Kerouac escribió en 1957, uno de mis libros favoritos! Y... ¿adivinan quién va a interpretar a Camille?
